Dr Marna du Plessis
Dr du Plessis graduated from the University of Pretoria with her MBChB degree in 2006 (awarded 2007). In 2008 she went on to obtain a certificate from the University of South Africa in the field of Medicine and Law. While studying towards her diploma in Forensic Medicine in 2010, Dr du Plessis held the position of medical officer at Ga-Rankuwa mortuary and the University of Limpopo (MEDUNSA campus), now known as Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. Subsequently, she was awarded her FC For Path (SA) in 2014 and MMed (Forensic Medicine) in 2016, while employed as a registrar (Forensic Pathology). Currently, Dr du Plessis is a medical specialist at the Salt River Mortuary, based at the University of Cape Town. Her research interests include forensic/post-mortem imaging. To date, she has five peer-reviewed publications of which two were written in affiliation with the University of Cape Town.
