
CAPE TOWN, 21 September 2017 - Forensic pathology services in the Western Cape are set to become more streamlined. A brand new facility is being built in Cape Town.

Cape Town - Child murders have dominated news in the Western Cape over the past few months. These brutal killings of defenceless young children have understandably caused much outrage and civil society organisations have called for decisive action by the provincial government, in particular for a commission of inquiry to stem the tide of these killings.

Cape Town - Work has started on the new R281 million project to replace the forensic pathology services laboratory in Salt River, Cape Town with a larger purpose-built modern forensic pathology facility to be built at the entrance to Groote Schuur Hospital in Observatory, the Western Cape government said on Sunday.

Cape Town - A new state-of-the-art morgue is set to be built at the entrance to Groote Schuur Hospital and will be replacing the Forensic Pathology Services Laboratory in Salt River.

On the 22nd of September 2017, the Division of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology/ Forensic Pathology Service, will host its annual Open Day for Grade 11 learners at UCT’s Faculty of Health Science.

Dr Itumeleng Molefe, a consultant pathologist in our division has a special interest in femicides and rape- homicide cases.

In April and May 2016, the Division of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology ran a collection drive for toiletries and clothing for the Victoria Hospital Rape Unit.
